Tu B'shvat Seder (FULL)

Join Rabbi Ariel Root Wolpe and Allison Goldman for a Tu B'shvat Seder under the trees in a home in Ansley Park. We will learn about the new year of the trees, sing songs, eat fruits and nuts and celebrate Tu B'Shvat through a festive meal.

Tu B'Shevat is a Jewish holiday that marks the new year for the trees. This helped ancient farmers mark where the trees were in the growing process, so growers knew when to harvest first fruits.  In the 16th century, the Kabbalists of Tzfat compiled a Tu B'Shvat seder, somewhat similar to the seder for Passover. It involves enjoying the fruits of the tree in celebration of the important role trees play in our life.

In honor of the trees, we’ll be asking for donations to support the Weelaunee (South River) forest defenders currently facing criminal charges for protests against copcity. Learn more here
