Thank you for registering for Ma'alot's gathering at Arabia Mountain this Sunday at 4:00. Everyone involved in this event is so excited to celebrate with you. Here are some important details:
WHERE: We are meeting at the Arabia Mountain Trailhead by the Nature Center. Google maps linked here.
WHEN: We will be gathering at 4:00 by the nature center and walking down the paved path towards the mountain. If you come late, follow the path to the left, it runs along the street towards the mountain. This portion is walker and wheelchair accessible, more details on accessibility below. We will end at 5:30 at the fire pit close to the parking lot.
BRING: You are invited to bring:
~Water and snacks for the hike
~Good sneakers or hiking boots
~A hanukkiyah (8 branched menorah), candles, lighter and a placemat to catch dripping wax
~A drum for the mountaintop drum circle and or instrument to play fire side
~Smartphone or printout with these lyrics and blessings
Accessibility: The beginning of our walk will be walker and wheelchair accessible on a paved path. Cars can pull all the way up to this paved walkway from the parking lot, and then circle back to park. There is a firepit a 5 minute paved walk from the parking lot, so folks can also take a seat by the fire when we pause there to light it on our walk. Folks who can go a bit further can continue on the paved path to the base of the mountain, and then circle back to the firepit. The group will be pausing as a whole at both of these places for some reflection, and an invitation to depart there or continue on. There will be candle lighting, a warm fire, snacks (smores anybody?) and good conversation, hosted by Rabbi Laurence and Shelley Dollar and the wonderful folks at Ahavath Achim Synagogue! Thank you!
See you at the mountain!
Rabbi Ariel
